"Kitty" is my real nic name, I dont know which family member started calling me that but it started when I was a baby. As for my real name, when all is said and done this is the Internet and I am not about to trust anyone. I dont know you and you dont know me. I dont have a lot of posts here for you to go by because I just joined, I am not going to be posting very often but its not because I am a fly by nighter, here today and gone tomorrow, its because I will be without an internet after tomorrow and will have to use the pc's at the library once or twice a week.
I dont consider myself hiding my true identity due to anything sneaky on my part, I consider myself being cautious and into as much self protection as I can provide for myself.
Another thread covered this, it was about why ppl dont give out personal information on themselves.

I have used Doren since I was 9 or 10 when I ran a bulletin board system in the late 80's. My mother taught me at a young age to be careful about who you trust, and what you trust them with. As I got older I understood what she was talking about.

When you work retail you get the sense that if people know your name they can somehow get control over you. During various altercations with customers or shoplifters, they always wanted to know your name, (despite the fact it would never help their situation.) I have gone so far as to wear fake name tags or no name tag at all. On a couple of occasions I went as far as to tell them my name was, "Kroger Employee 347". That was enough to make one guy start swinging at me.

Also when your real name is John Adams, it's almost a burden more than a name.

I don't post my real name directly not because of fear of the government, but because of fear of identity thieves.

"Sgt. Draino" has been my nickname on the internet almost from the inception of my presence on it. If you find "Sgt. Draino" or "sgtdraino" pop up somewhere in a search, it is probably me.

I was given the nickname practically by accident, by someone who thought they were being cute at the time. The details are actually not very interesting, so I will not get into that.

    Cool Attention.

I've merged the 2 threads to avoid duplicate posting.
