But, I've had two red bulls today!
Beware those Red Bulls - I got my first kidney stone from them. My doc couldn't say definitively that it was because of the Red Bulls, but at the time, I had been drinking from 1-4 a day for my restaurant gig, for about a year. The Doc said they most likely contributed significantly to the problem.

Good job to ya'll on quitting.
Examine your habits around the times when you would smoke. For example, if you always smoke on the way home, try going home by a different route. If you always light up as soon as you roll out of bed, replace that habit with something else - like brushing your teeth first or immediately getting on a treadmill or exercise bike.

Change the habits around your old smoking pattern and it will help you break the habitual part of smoking.
The Nicotine addiction, though - you have my sympathy - good luck!

Broccoli? If that were so I'd have pea'd a castle by now. I eat a lot of broccoli.

After a couple of the nasty beggars my urologist said tea was probably the culprit. The uric acid in tea binds with calcium to form the stone. He said we in the States tend to drink it cold and in large quantities compared with the rest of the world that drinks tea hot and sips it. I cut way back on iced tea and haven't had another stone. Cause or coincidence, I don't care. I just never want another one, I do know that.

Damn if its not a hard thing to do.

There is a withdrawal from alcohol that you have to go through.

Good luck. Your kidneys, liver, spleen, brain, eyes, intestines, muscles, nerves, etc. etc. will all thank you.

Kidney stones from ICe Tea and Red Bull...damn that is really bad news. I live off of those two things. Caffeine really is my weakness... I got to swear it off

wow, just found this thread.......i am on day 5 no cigs-cold turkey! 1st day was easy, 2nd -4th were very difficult and today has been pretty easy thus far (only a few hrs to go).

quit beer though? why on earth would anyone give up the gods nectar? i am going to lay off for a while though. just until the cravings taper off a bit.

actually this is quite hard as i am making myself diet at the same time so as to not put on senseless weight.

    time will tell i guess.

    how is everyone else doing?

To all of those that have quit - congratulations. To all of those trying - good luck.
