Well I have been away from my favorite websites because I lost my job in August. I decided to use it as an opportunity to go walkabout. Now that it's cold and wet I have moved back to civilization. I put my survival skills and knowledge to the test. Between traps, hunting, fishing(I did buy licenses) and foraging and dumpster diving I ate pretty well nearly everyday. I lived with what I had in my two bugoutbags. One a backpack the other a deployment bag. It was actually fun and in a way a romantic time. At least it will be remembered as such. I am now in an erstwhile search for a job. I don't think I'll give up on the dumpster diving I found stuff that not only fed me but made me some cash. I made enough a few times to get a hotel room for a one day luxury of a really long hot shower and sleeping in a bed. I didn't want to get out of that habit completely. I'll make some posts from the journal I kept if you all are interested. Right now I'll tell you just a few things. It is unbelievable how good catfish roasted over hardwood coals is after spending all day looking for food and being skunked only to do one last check of youyr basket trap and find a 2 foot long flathead in it. There are also no words for how good a hot shower feels after nothing but field washing for a few weeks.
Lastly the evening campfire is always special and wonderous.
I'm glad to be back in my house and even more so to see this website is still up and running.
