Casting for old single shot rifles.....

Looking around today...found this site.....Casting from Rodney Storie....

Pretty cool...but are bare castings and need pins springs and a lot of machining to make a rifle.
Also seem like they may no longer be available.....

Anyone hear of this guy?

I was doing some buying from The Rifle Shop several years ago. Back then they were the only source for historically accurate locks and parts for certain rifles.

They would make the parts after the collected enough orders to make setting up the tooling worthwhile, so some of the turn around times were 6 months to a year.

They may be different now, I have not bought anything from them for 15 years.

The other guy looks like a good source for missing parts or a new frame if yours is cracked and you already have all the internals.

Was kinda interesting how it came up....
Another forum....guy was asking about single shots and wanted a ejector, not extractor.

So of course the talk turned to H&R Handi Rifles, Rossi, CVA and T/C.

Now you know that some one is gonna bring up a Ruger #1 in a weird caliber for around $1300 bucks (doubt he has one but is gonna impress every one with his vast knowledge....or fine firearms ......The guy choked.

So now another poster brought up again as they always do..... the "Build your own" method. and listed the "Rodney Storie" site.
......Didn't mention that no one had heard from him since 2009.....or that the Rifle Shoppe may be offering the parts, again that was in 2010.
And didn't mention that it was "castings" for sale....not an AR parts kit to just needing to be assembled.

My CVA Navy Colt was kind like that...few parts, a few screws.....barrel, cylinder and a hunk of brass for the frame...and a block of walnut for the grips......PITA for a first build.

Guys like this make me laugh...it like calling for a good price on an airline ticket....and get a suggestion to build your own airplane...in kit form, by Saturday.

Bottom line, some times you need to pan a lot of sand.... to get a flake of gold.....I now know about the Rifle Shoppe.....

One thing about this place, it keeps you honest.

You start talking about a .44 Bulldog Irish Constabulary pistol and RandyT will come up with one to show you. Probably half of us have built a ML rifle or pistol from a kit and some of us have built from scratch. Most everyone here is a hunter and knows what a .22 will do and will not, knows a 12 gauge is not going to kick you down and a longer barrel with a choke is better than a short barrel without choke for any given endeavor. And if you tell us that you can build an AK or an AR from a kit someone is going to build one and tell you how it works!

BTW, I think I got that same 1851 Navy kit you did back in 1978! A rough brass casting for a frame, barrel with milling marks still present, cylinder with burrs on the front where the center pin hole was drilled through and what looked like a 2x4 clamped into the frame sections for a grip. Cost $39.95 at some big box store. I still have it floating around somewhere. It turned out a real good shooter but took me months to finish. I still have not got the grips as thin as they should be!

Know anyone that has done a C&B to cartridge conversion in their home workshop without the fancy kit?

If we get Jim Glass started on that he will never make it back to Florida this year!

Yes Thought if Jim during visit to the Rifle Shoppe....
Maybe as long as there is his well equipped shop...just sitting there....... just have him turn out parts for projects like this.....LOL

Slippery slope though.....
