Sorry, but I'm not building anything that requires a controlled explosion or controlled burn in really really tight places. And I'm especially not placing my face next to self built controlled explosion devices. I'm not pretty but I need to hang on to what I have. Nicknames like No Nose, One Eye or No Brows don't need to be self imposed.

Rick, that is a lower receiver. All the explosion stuff happens in the upper receiver. The lower just houses the fire controls and gives a place to put a stock. Worse case scenario, gun won't fire and you're out a little $$$$$.

Just surprised to see an AR....I know there have been AK blanks to fold, drill and assemble.......Not my cup of tea...not that good at it....and don't really like them all that much.......... anyway.

Why not give it a try.

If you mess it up and it fails to function every other shot who's going to know the difference, its and AR !

Those 80% lowers are everywhere and SG is a bit expensive on theirs. But it does include the jig and drill bits.

You can get a poly frame for as low as $50.

Most have the drill points marked and pre-punched and all you do is use the right size drill at the right mark.

I am sure there are You tube vids that take you through the steps.

That is one project I have never tried just because I am not that much into the AR. By the time you buy all the parts you could have bought a NIB AK.

I always wanted to try it from a raw forging. Broaching the mag well would be a pain, but the rest sounds fun.
