Neologist, there are many types and styles of knives made from files, yukon said his was homemade by his grandfather in 6 hours. I doubt very much that the picture you posted of one from Mako Knives looks anything like the one his granddad made. I don't know even how his grandfather made one in 6 hours!

I made one, took an American made file to my grinder. Kept dipping it in oil and ground a nice edge. Nothing fancy, wrapped some hemp around the handle and threw it in my truck. It's sharp, and always throws sparks.

I did trade for a knife that is more prof. made, would not trade it for anything. I do have a horse file downstairs that has Bowie written all over it.

I know this my sound corny but i miss my Grandfather. I'm 43 years old and i still miss him. I learned so much from him that i still carry in my day to day life. I would give anything to spend six hours grinding out a knife with him. I'm sorry if this is inapproite here but reading this post made me think of him.

Nothing corny about it at all. The loved ones that have passed live on in our memories. Sometimes it's nice to say it out loud and share those memories with others.

It's not corny to be human and have feelings.

On the other hand, if you told a stranger on the bus about that genital wart that's been bothering you, that might be a little uncomfortable.
