HopeAk, would you please post when there's enough snow to sled. I think we are going to have a hard winter. Snow is right around the corner. It takes me 4 to 6 days to walk in to my place 2 on the sled I was thinking of a springtime return but I don't want to walk in I'm returning mid dec. earler if I can. Depending on how much snow. well being that it is my first full season here at the homestead i was not able to observe last falls animals i moved in late october, but this year at the feeders the birds of a types are going crazy i have taken to just pouring a bucket on the deck cuz i can't fill the feeders fast enough, is it a sign of things to come? well this summer forecast was supposed to be long hot and dry turned out to be short cool and record rains now they are predicting a hard long cold snowy winter so we will see but i am trying to learn from the animals they are the best indidcaters and predicters so i will only know what i am seeing now probably in a couple of years lots of frenzy this fall if lots of snow then next year not so crazy and not much snow i may learn something but wiil probably take about 5 years for figure this out

The birds cleaned all of the sunflower seeds off of most of my sunflower heads before I had a chance to get them cut and inside to dry. I have never had them do that before. Sure they will eat some, but not all. Either I just have really greedy birds around my house, or they are really hungry.

30.4 degrees this AM, CAVU (Clear Air Visibility Unlimited) that's airplane driver talk. Snow is 1/3 way down Mountains. The female Fuzzies are digging, and the big Fuzzies are feeding.

Fletcher, You would get better weather reports from WildWoman, as she is closer.

Fletcher, I live in Chugiak. The snow is about 1/4 to 1/3 down the mountains. The temps are still getting into the 50's during the day and down to the high 30's at night. The weather man says that the slope is starting to get some snow.
