I was thinking of starting a donation run in my area where people would donate old, used, outgrown or slightly damaged articles of clothing (synthetic and wool only) for distribution among poor or underprivileged outdoor enthusiasts.
I ran the numbers for simple 3-season clothes (polypro base layer, nylon pants, wool socks, synthetic shirt, hat) on Campmo.com (the cheapest site I could think of) and they averaged $100! So I got to thinking about all the old clothes I have and clothes other campers must have that are no longer used, are too used to be resold, and how I could get people to donate them for people who can't afford a $100 ensemble.
This thread is not asking for donations, I just want to get a few figures before I try to attempt this:
1) How often do you go through synthetic or wool clothing (throw away, outgrow, minimal damage yet you still buy a new one)?
2) How likely would you be willing to donate old clothes (no obligation)?
3) How likely do you think others will donate to some guy with a good heart who doesn't want to go through the red tape of Salvation Army?
Thanks
