    Default Guilt ridden food dreams

Some of you know that I have been on a diet for almost 18 months. It is the low carb thing, no sweets, no breads and "nothing white".

It has been very successful in taking off and keeping off the wieght (90 pounds at this point), but it does deprive me of many of my favorite foods.

I had gone to one of the loacal buffets yesterday and found the battle against cheating difficult but possible.

Last night I woke from a terrifying dream where I was consuming mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, icecream and gummy bears.

It was so real that for several minutes I was sure I had lost all self discipline and fallen off the wagon. I even felt like I had gained pounds in my sleep! I actually had to fight myself awake to end the terror.

Fortunately all the pillows are still accounted for.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Its odd how a diet makes you want things you never really wanted before. I'm on a doctor ordered diet for a procedure tomorrow and I can't have certain things. I haven't had fast food in over a year (other than subway if that counts) and all I wanted the other day was Burger King...

Also, I'm not sure if its just me, but when a dream is supposed to wake me up, as in a nightmare, and I somehow don't wake up, the dream gets really really weird...

Anyways, congrats on the success so far for sure.

Hahaha! I know how you feel. I've been eating a similar way for about ten years; lost over 100 lbs. I don't have food dreams but I sometimes have booze dreams. For those who don't know I quit the stuff about 5 months ago. Last night I had a dream that I got really sloshed, woke up and felt really horrible til it sunk in that I was just dreaming. Really rattled me for awhile.

I had similar experiences after I quit smoking!

I would dream I was smoking complete with nicotine rush, taste, the whole works.

It is amazing what the mind will do.

Last time I had a food dream....was a overwhelming "wake you up wanting" a hot pastrami sandwich, on french bread with hot mustard, and gardenia....and a Leinie's Red.....from Mac's Canteen.......still makes my mouth water.....

    Glad your pillows made it.
