    Default Suprise Knife Handle

So On A Recent Outing With A Friend And His Neurotic Brown Lab. His Lab Thought The Wood Handle On My Ka Bar Would Make A Great Chew Toy! So When We Got To Out Starting Point And I Saw The Knife, My Friend Had Some Work Tools And Supply's In The Truck. Hes A Sparky. And The Wood Handle Was Mostly Intact, So He Took A Piece Of Liquid Tight Heat Shrink And Put It Around The Handle And Heated It. And Surprisingly It Is One Of The Best Handles I've Used. I Wanna Try It On Some Of My Other Knives. In Hindsight I Guess He Could Have Eaten Worse Things. I've Seen Labs Chew Through Anything You Can Imagine.

He Has The Knife Right Now Showing It Off. Heat Shrink Is Essentially A Rubber Tube You Put Around A Wiring Splice And Heat Up And It Shrinks Around The Wire. The Liquid Type Stuff Has A Glue That Melts And Seals The Whole Thing From Water Intrusion. Its Cheap And Works All Over The Place. I Keep A Piece That Will Fit Over A Radiator Hose In My Truck Just Incase I Have One Blow.

I have used them before in the autimotive realm, but I have never seen them big enought to fit over a knife handle or radiator hose. Where do you find such items?

I'm in for pics when you get it back. Heat shrink can prove useful for a lot of things if you have any imagination.

It's called adhesive lined heat shrink. The marine industry uses it quite a bit.
