I read the SAS Survival guid, and and currently reading 98.6 the art of keeping you a** alive. I was worndering what are some of the books you would sugest .

The SAS guide is a good one. If you did a search of survival books you would find about three pages of threads about survival books.

found it I tried earler but dident have any luck could be my spelling.

I have poor spelling. My spell check doesn't work for some reason. My spelling has improved a little from practice on this forum.

The thing about most spell checkers is that if you type in the wrong word, but spell it write, it will not flag it. If you have Microsoft Word on your computer, and are concerned about it - just type it in there first, as it will do a pretty good check. Then you can copy and paste it here. Oooorrrrrr, just don't worry about it.

I have a small SAS guide that I keep in my bag. I think it's a nice reference to have around.

Didn't we just do this thread? I like the older Boy Scout Handbooks & Fieldbooks; Build The Perfect Survival Kit, by John D. McCann; everything published by Mors Kochanski; The Complete Book of Outdoor Survival, by J. Wayne Fears; & The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, by Stephen King.

Here are a couple of books I reccomend
1: Nature Bound, Ron Dawson: this is a good field manual that is small in size and so it is a part of my kit
2:Camping & Wilderness Survival, Paul Tawrell; this is a good general info book
3: Lucifer's Hammer , Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle: This is a fiction novel written with real world problems and solutions. It is a good read.

If any of you have noticed Beo's new signature, he's quoting Simon Girty. I originally read about S.G. in a book titled: "The Frontiersmen", which also related the biographies of Daniel Boone, Jacob Greathouse, & one of MY favorites: Simon Kenton. I can't remember the author, but it was a "narrative" that reads like a novel....great book!
