    Not an odd encounter, but a fine one. I was fishing a small river early in the morning some years ago it was a bit misty, I hadn't had a bite in over an hour. A cheeky kingfisher flew onto my pole and sat there a minute, dove down into the water and came back up with a little fish, bashed the fish dead on my pole, ate it and back down into the water, beat the fish on my pole but flew off with this one. He/she carried on doing this for 20 minutes or so then off it went. Must have had a family I guess.
