    Default New Gerber Kick Axe

Do a websearch on this. I saw it in a knife magazine this morning in Books-A-Million while waiting for my Aunt at the dentist.I think when they are available I might have to give one a try. If it's half as good as it looks it will be usable.

Too many moving parts for an axe, fold up or not. In early April I loosened the epoxy bond on my hatchet while splitting wood, while it had no moving parts. I couldn't imagine the rivets holding up longer than a week in my hands.

Interesting looking ax. I don't know about the fact that it is hinged though. Seems to me that could lead to problems.

it kind of resembles a wallmart folding shovel. one single pin to hold the axehead on the handle.3 chops i would have it broken

As I said in the other thread, I also have concerns about the hinge pin. Gerber does make some quality stuff with a good waranty. I'm curious to hear reviews on this when it comes out.

I think one of you Moderators should contact Gerber and get one for a pass around and each that gets it writes a review and if it passes with flying colours Gerber would like to use the website reviews in their advertising. Just thinking outloud.

I went to Gerber's website, and pulled the Kick Axe up and read about it. I will be waiting to read your review on it after you have used it.

If only it were that easy - then I'd have a house full of stuff. *looks around wondering where all this stuff came from*

Seriously though - it is a cool idea. I'll float it by Chris (his site and all) and see what he thinks.

Wait! Wait! Wait! We need three! Two for QC review and one to pass around if the first two pass the Q.C. tests. Public service and all .........

Like my knives... I prefer my axes to a ONE piece deal. No moving parts, no hinge pins to wear, loosen or break. Do I carry folding knives? You bet, but i'm not about to attempt to chop down a tree with one.
    I know what hunts you.

Maybe we should pitch that idea by Cold Steel. They make some huge folders, and enjoy showing off.

If you can con your way into a free Kick Axe send it my way. I'll mail you the video of me breaking it in two days.
