at the risk of getting this thread back on track, i would like to mention that while i'm not down with arse sponges, they do serve usefull purposes. in 1995 air force captain scott o'grady ejected from his aircraft over bosnia and was forced to evade capture untill he felt safe enough to radio for help. during the six days he was MIA he collected rain-water and condensation with a sponge.

i've tried this, and while it's hard to recover much water from condensation on plants, a sponge helps significantly.

just don't use the same sponge for both purposes.
