    Default DIY Generators

    I stumbled across this website this morning.

    Seems like a fairly easy and cheap way to provide some emergency power. The ouput isn't that high, but if you can find used parts you could probably build a couple of these generators pretty cheaply.

    So you're a paramedic too. Cool. Well, I say "too." I just downgraded back to being an EMT-Basic, plus I gave up the National Registry.

    If you take any DC motor and rotate the shaft, it will generate DC power at the terminals. I don't know how much but it works. Just attach a propeller to the shaft, and you have wind power. Attach a water wheel to the shaft, and you have water power.
