    Default Frustrating Redundancy

You know, it is hard to come up with some new information about survival in the wilderness or another topic listed in the category sections without stepping on other posts that have already been made here. While acknowledging that information about outdoor survival is limited in that a person can say only so much about outdoor survival, homesteading and whatnot otherwise concerning the subject matter.. I find that most of what I would like to post on here has already been said into numerous redundancies... and I hate to be redundant. Even personal experience is listed here. Those personal experiences that I have may not be worth mentioning here in redundancy. I am stymied at coming up with anything new to enlighten the group, other than to post opinions on other's posts. It is frustrating not being able to contribute anew.

I feel the same way, bro.
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Au contraire, mes amis! I, for one, appreciate the variety of personal experiences relating to the differing survival situations. There are similarities of course, but often one or two small differences can make a world of difference, and often someone will throw in a "did you think of...." which is always helpful. None of us can think of everything, and often in survival situations, people aren't thinking terribly clearly. Risk the redundancy and post on!
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

A little French lingo there Trax - I'm impressed. But to Ridge Wolfs post. The personal experiences of those that post mean alot to me. I really don't care if it's been talked about before (ok the best Rambo knife and altoid can survival kit may belong in the stickies) As Trax said, small differences can make a world of difference.....and with me, sometimes I need to hear it several times for the light bulb to go on.

Ok.. Trax and Crash, I understand the commeraderie... and I appreciate that as well. What I was trying to get at was just the redundancy of survival information and I was looking at the technical aspect of the posts, not the social.

(head slap) Good grief, Charlie Brown. I've posted on this twice and listed a gunny sack load of stuff that has NOT been posted on. We've only scratched the surface. There is so much more to explore and personal experience and advise is what my great grandfather would be giving me if he were alive (and liked me). But he's not so I have to rely on you folks to fill some of that void. All of human history except the last 60 or so years has been about survival and collectively we probably have a good portion of that knowledge among us.

I've been here since May 2007, read and talked about it all.

I personally don't mind bringing up old subjects as I really don't think you can never be 100% knowledgeable about everything.

    Bring it up, let's talk.

I would rather talk wilderness survival than politics, money, and religion anyday.

Somethings need to be repeated. Others can be covered in a few words.

I do more reading then posting. I do like reading what others say and getting their ideas on gear and ways they do things.

With my limited experience and limited intelligence, I try to look for better ways to do things. I adapt to my needs. The ideas I get here help me keep my mind open for other ways to do the same thing but in a better or easier way.

I don't really think you can beat something to death. Every day a new invention, improvement on an old one. Change of manufacture ie. USA to China. Quality erosion on necessities etc. Knives have been beaten to death but manufacture, materials, blade types, carry laws change everyday. We all like to make our own equipment so share how. I have mostly been there done that but I sure do have a lot to learn. Also wild animals are becoming the least of our worries and you should see the inventive traps around the fields of "grass" in the woods. Lots of these "growers" learned a lot in Viet Nam. I don't see a shortage of subjects or maybe I am just a little slow on the uptake.

I haven't been here long but I understand where you're coming from. But look at it this way, new members are signing up everyday. Posting your thoughts, although they may have been posted endlessly in other threads, is brought out for the first time to the new members. I would love to read 1 thing new to me that other's have posted 100's of times. Also, if you feel like you're beating a topic to death, try adding some pictures. They may show pointers to us, that you might not think to include, or not even think about while undergoing your project. I know that many of you enjoy posting how to prepare certain items or food stuffs and the pictures gives us a better grasp as to what is going on. Isn't it easier to follow instructions, if there are models to follow? To me, pictures also tell us a little about the person posting (i.e. scenery you enjoy, perfered shelters/fire building)
