Default Saiga Imports Blocked by Executive Order

I wonder how much longer Wolf ammo will survive.

While I certainly don't approve of the Executive Order part (sanctioned import bans should be decided by Congress,) I don't have any particular need to be buying any sort of Russian imports at the moment. If you are going to ask the EU to give up one of its oil and gas sources, you can deal with not buying Russian-made Saigas, right?

I haven't seen Wolf ammo around here in a few years anyway. When the price went up to match all other ammo, and the difficulty in getting it, a lot of places here just stopped selling it.
If we are to have another contest in…our national existence I predict that the dividing line will not be Mason and Dixon's, but between patriotism & intelligence on the one side, and superstition, ambition & ignorance on the other…

I think wolf ammo will be okay. It may be made in Russia, but it is also made in Ukraine and Yugoslavia. Technically, Wolf doesn't make ammo. They import it and package it under their name and sell it.

That's hardly the question. As you pointed out, Congress should be dealing with this. EO's are not a way to make laws in my book. I don't have a need to purchase a Saiga either but I won't be complacent about the issue because it doesn't affect me.

Yeah, No Ship.......There is always a way around the proper way of doing things....and it seems that any crack in the law is going to be exploited to the end of banning all fire arms and ammo.

There still isn't any .22 around, or is so expensive people are shying away......Pretty scary,....used to be $2.50 a box for 50 rounds of something capable of killing anything on the planet.

Things that make you say WTF or should.........

Wolf is an American company that imports from many countries, but the new rules dictated by King Obama are going to hurt the 7.62x39 flow, because most of that does come out of the Russian factories.

So far all the restrictions have done is control us and not Putin. Which is exactly what Putin warned, and the administration knows, so it is being done with intent.

Lowkey, if you are not seeing Wolf ammo on the shelves then you are not getting out much, shooting a 7.62x39, or visiting the high volume shooting sports outlets. Field and Stream, Cabellas, Dunhams, Bass Pro, and all the major on-line suppliers (Midway, Natchez, Sportsman's Guide, AIM, Cheaper than Dirt) feature Wolf as their primary brand in 7.62x39. It has remained plentiful and cheap since it was not under the control of the American ammo manufacturers, who for some absurd reason can not keep up with American demand.

Wolf and the Russian suppliers were able to keep up with US demand while supplying AK ammo to both Iraq and Afghan Security forces and provide almost half billion rounds to the US armed forces, for whatever reason they felt they needed that much supply here in the states.

The only hope is that the Wolf company and the distributers saw the writing on the wall several months ago and stockpiled huge supplies.

I saw the implications several months ago and acted accordingly, as anyone that was concerned about having adequate ammo should have.

I don't mean to sound arrogant but after the year 2008 no one should take a continuous supply of anything involved with their firearms for granted or be shocked at any move taken to interfere with the shooting sports.

If they can find a way to hurt us they will use it.

Just haven't seen Wolf around here in a few years. It was an observation. Could be cuz I live in a gun-controlled state.
Cabelas and Bass Pro do not carry it (unless you count Tula, which Bass Pro does carry.) At least not online. Maybe your local outlets do, but they don't here. We cannot order ammo through the mail here. Not because it is illegal, it isn't, but because every one of those companies you listed, ESPECIALLY Sportsmans Guide are fed up with our arbitrary state AG and her unpublished "rules." I don't blame them. I can order through an FFL if I want to pay a service charge and if the company will even ship to one. Haven't had the need.

As I said, Rick, I don't agree with the EO method. At all.

I'm certainly not complacent either. We still have another 3 weeks in this state of trying to shepherd some semi-decent changes to our state gun laws through the legislature for a change. Ones that both sides should be happy about. But nothing pleases Them. Making sure that doesn't derail requires we never be complacent. With pretty close to 30 anti-gun bills actively in committee in my state, I'm rather well aware of the means these anti-gun measures can creep through the cracks.

Always beware of the non-legislative means for gun control. We had one out-of-control AG several years ago who set up some questionable sting operations on mail order vendors and added some "controls" that should have been struck down by the state courts but were not even challenged at the Federal level due to a huge technical legal error. We have regulations promulgated under the unelected Executive Office of Public Safety which makes a list of "safe" guns, both handgun and long guns based on drop tests, melt tests, and firing tests. Then there is the AG Standards "list" that doesn't really exist in physical form but has denied sales of firearms that are actually on the EOPS list. Non-elected officials should not be able to make such policy and a regulation shouldn't be up to one official's "discretion."
Yeah. I know all about insidious.

For many, it is called normalizing. Just another step in putting up with stuff. Don't accept it, because something you (you as in the collective you) care about may be next.

The ban zealots never stop. They never give up. The seize upon any opportunity to further their agenda.

I'm glad for the moment that there's plenty of 7.62x39 currently in the country. I don't get to shoot much, and I really don't get to buy ammo much. Get it while it's hot, I guess. I noticed that it seems already hard to find, or find any good price on any 7.62x25tok and 5.45x39 respectively. I bet anybody sitting on a bit of that will do well at coming gun shows.

Were happy with our Romanian WASRs, so no sweat.. Saiga makes good stuff for sure, but its not match grade so there it is...

I mostly run Tula, Ill have to keep an eye on the ammo situation more closely...
