Thread: Hey There!

    Default Hey There!

Good morning everyone! I came across this forum by accident, when searching about replacement axe handles. It seems there is a lot of information, so I decided to sign up so I can ask my questions and give advice.

Here's a brief introduction about me:

My name is Luke Radke; I am 30 years old and have been married for almost 8 years and have 3 beautiful girls. I'm a professional accountant by trade, but not the tax and finance kind. Yes I know how to do all that "stuff", but my specialty (and designation) is in strategic planning for businesses....also known as a change manager. I live in Alberta and grew up spending weeks in the mountains every year. My childhood was me going on hikes with my dad, as he looked up every plant and explained it to me. The best part of that (despite the boring explanations as a kid) is knowing what berries are safe. I never go hungry on a hike! It's also a pleasure to pass that information down to my girls, now that they are starting to understand (my wife has a rule that no one can eat anything unless I give the OK).

Those weren't my only outdoor experiences. I am also a decorated scout; I have earned both my Chief Scout Award and Queen's Venturer Award. I was working on my Duke of Edinborough Awards, but I got married and started school instead.

Even though I don't get out as much as I like, I am still passionate about being out in the middle of the mountains, just away from everything. Hiking, backpacking, backcountry camping...I can't wait to get back into it when my kids are older!

I think this is a good start. I look forward to talking with you all!

    Cheers!
