Andy, go into any of the headings and there should be a blue box that says start thread in the top left hand corner. There is on mine, so post under whatever heading is appropriate.
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

Or, use the forum tools drop down on the right hand side when viewing the thread listings. Either should work.

Nell - I had one that I just could not get the rust out of with steel wool. It was too pitted. I put a brass wire wheel on a power drill. It took a little while, but came out real good. After that, lots of soap and water before seasoning. Came out nice.

I suppose a person could use a dremel or even sand blast one if it was really bad. You just can't hurt cast iron unless you break it.

I had a very large one years ago,set it on the burner and turned it on,walked over to the sink heard a loud pop and saw sparks fly across the floor, the burner on the stove shorted out,and managed to make a nice sized hole in the bottom of my skillet

I completely forgot about stoneware so I went back and added it to the first post. I'm just bumping the thread so you'll know I added it.
