Ya as well as night swimming
Didn't do night swims at Coronado but rather up off Camp Pend. at Blue beach. Usually they would sched. for Fridays. You get off, ready to party and find out lib.is secured.
You're told to get the udt's on and report to the dive shack. There you picked up your wet suit vest, booties, and fins, oh yeah and a little blinking light. Then you hear the choppers coming in. It was a total blast, scary the first time, but I started liking it after a while, what a blast.
We would do the helocast out of the back of one of them big double bladed choppers or we would have 6, 3 on each side of a Huey.
Tried out for pre scuba but just could not make the swim time. Tried a couple times. Tried my hardest, the time was just not there. Ahh, at least I had the opp. and gave it my all.
