OK, since you have owned this 2000 for several weeks why is the Marlin enough better for such a swift transition?

I have no opinion myself, not having owned either model. I was just wondering what would bring on the decision to swap the trick tatical wonder for a very conservitive looking replacement, other than handy magazine transition.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Main thing is magazine compatibility with the pistol I enjoy shooting in 9mm. The other advantage to me is the ability to mount a scope. As I get older I find I need a scope more and more with a rifle. Bifocals make it hard to focus on the front site. Plus putting a 9mm carbine on my BOB does not fit with me. My M24 Camper's Companion fits that role better for me. But a 9mm carbine is very fun to shoot. The Camp 9 fits that role for me quite well. Plus tactical is just a term. I never have needed to be tactical to get the job done.
