Barney Hajiro passed away . He was the oldest living Medal of Honor recipient. He was something of a stand out even in a unit of outstanding soldiers.

Honorary pallbearers from the 442nd Regimental Combat Team salute Medal of Honor recipient Pvt. Barney Hajiro Feb. 14 as his casket, carried by pallbearers from the 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry Brigade, is moved during a burial service at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu. Hajiro's unit, comprised of Japanese-American enlisted personnel, was awarded 9,486 Purple Hearts, eight Presidential Unit Citations, and 52 Distinguished Service Crosses, the second-highest individual honor in the Army.
