Magazine Storage/Usage

I do my best, but I have some magazines that hold hollow point ammo, and since it's pricey, I don't shoot it. But I do keep it 1-2 rounds short of its full capacity.

Question: How often do you guys shoot your SD rounds? Do you notice much difference in the way it handles compared to target rounds?

I wound up picking up what I could during the ammo "shortage" but generally I'm I shoot what I carry guy. It's a little more expensive but, hey, I'm worth it.

I'll normally start my practice sessions with my Buck Mark Camper (.22LR). Shoot a couple hundred rounds honing fundamentals (sight control, breathing control, trigger control)...

Then I'll load up my SP2022 (9mm) empty mags with target rounds (FMJ) and shoot a box of 50 rounds to do the same thing I did with the .22LR, just with the added recoil of a centerfire.

Then I'll shoot the carry ammo I've been carrying around in my magazines (one 15rd mag and one 10rd mag, both full) for the last couple of weeks to ensure I'm still accurate (POA vs. POI) with it.

Then I stick the mags I've be using for carry in my range bag and load up the ones that were riding in there with my carry ammo.

Repeat a couple weeks later.

Good point, how can you be sure if your "good stuff" shoots the same as the "practice crap".

Practice with what you gonna use, aren't you worth it?

KS, also kinda brought up another point, awhile back, pretty suttle, when it comes to sighting in a hunting or target piece.

The barrel/sights should be dead on on a "cold barrel", first shot, and should be sighted in this way.

Even if you have to let it cool between shots, as you won't have time to shoot a couple of "warn up" shots to get it pulled into the X.

I don't spend a lot of time or ammo, just burning it up, for the sake of burning it up, just get the tool ready to use, and practice technique, and have a little fun.
