Hi everyone. My name is Blake. I am 27 years old and pretty much grew up in the woods. Hunting and camping were always great bonding times for me and my dad and I always looked forward to it. That is what got me interested in the wilderness as a whole. When I got married, I got my wife into camping as well and about 4 years ago, we took to backpacking. I have a small level of military survival experience as well, but most of what I know came from growing up in the woods. As a backpacker, I want to continuously progress (regress?) towards carrying less and staying longer. As time goes on, I am getting more and more into the survival aspect (I think it's important to know as a backpacker). What I'm currently trying to learn:
Making cordage (Twining looks exactly like making a Flemmish twist bowstring).
Edible wild plants (trying to get past "This is edible, this is not" and actually learn how to use it).
Knapping (It just looks like fun)
A lot of my questions/reading will probably be related to these things but I'm a curious person and have a lot more questions too.
Thanks,
Blake
