    Default AED's

Anyone else thought about getting one???

Lots of us have First aid/CPR AED training, and there are grants out there to help put AED's (Automated External Defibrillators) in homes and businesses.

I'm thinking about getting one for my first aid kit at home, and talking to my employer about trying to get one there as well.

My neighbor has one (he has a heart condition). Since Our families are close, we all got the training. Also have two at work. I am not sure of the costs, but seems to be a good idea

Love to get one - especially since I'm the most statistically likely fella to need one here at home.

Can beagles be trained to use them?

Pal,the cheapest unit is about $900.

I don't think my employer would spring for the full amount, but maybe with a grant to offset,it maybe something I can talk them into.

And being in a rural location,I already know how long it takes for first responders to get out this way,and when they do make it out here, they are usually lost for a bit before finding the address they are looking for(took 45 minutes for the firetrucks to get here when my home burned)

A person having a heart attack just does not have that kind of time

I was involved in fielding a couple hundred for public buildings, fire rescue and some LEOs in a FL county. The cost then was over $1200 per. They are real, proven life savers.

I think when I retire (again) in a couple years, I will go ahead and invest in one. I will be living in a very rural area, and the response times are like you said. I think my neighbors was "issued " by the hospital that did his surgery (Deborah Herat and Lung Center)

I think it's a great idea Nell - especially if there is a member of the family that is at a higer risk.

A local school principal was saved last week because the staff used it on her. Thankfully, she survived. They are a wonderful tool but an expensive one.
