Just wondering,could we as a planet prepare for a Nuclear Winter or Asteroid Impact winter.
Do you think a lot people could survive long term and if so why?

lol...I got an acticle 15 for defacing Government property. All I did was put a sticker on Bravo Company's door that said something along the lines of "The power of stupid people in large groups".

I stand by that today.

NO, we, as a "planet", cannot prepare. It's too large of a task logistically.

I don't think a lot of people could survive long term.
1; They are too lazy/whiny/wimpish to do what needs to be done to survive.
2; They never gained the skills and knowledge needed.

Not that I think everyone would be wiped out. There are those (like those on this forum) who will be able to survive, and will probably form small groups to share skills, etc. Eventually, though, they'll end up screwing it all up again by amassing into large groups again, causing the same issues we have now.

i think a lot of people would die, dependance on "some one provides my food" is the achilese heel of modern man. a society of people who could never feed themselves in the aftermath of an event like that. has no chance. just the wilderness wise will have a chance. living solely on an eco- system in collapse would have you foraging for remanants of plants that wont grow again until a thaw.animals starving and sick. no regeneration of fuels like wood animal fat, pine sap. does'nt sound good to me.

Depends on the severity doesn't it? A loss of crops over an extended geographic area would have a large, negative impact regardless of the cause. You only need to look at 1816 (The Year Without a Summer) to understand the impact an extended winter would have.
