I'm in law enforcement. I've never done drugs, nor would I ever consider doing drugs. That said...

That said I as an employer should have the right not to hire, or to fire anyone who uses whatever drug I don't want to deal with, including alcohol or tobacco, coffee for that matter. As a landlord I should not be forced to rent property to anyone who does drugs.

Insurance companies should be allowed to set the premiums for people who do and don't do drugs. I would love it if my car insurance was less because I can pass a drug screen. I don't drink or do drugs why should I pay increased premiums to cover those who do?

If you want to do drugs, fine, screw yourself up, kill off your own brain cells. Don't ask me to bail you out or carry your sorry load. Drugs come with consequences and I as a non-drug user shouldn't have to share them with you. Mac

And I also agree with this.

The "war on drugs" has accomplished little more than to fund gang activity, by driving up black market prices. We need to learn the lessons from Prohibition. If people want to get effed up, they will find a way. The government's job is to protect you from other people, not to protect you from yourself.

Some people don't want to legalize drugs for health reasons. News flash: You can get effed up on various legal chemicals you can purchase at your local grocery store very, very cheaply, which have much more potentially dangerous side-effects. You don't see the government making paint or glue illegal, do you? Those are far more dangerous "drugs" than the reefer.

Legalize, legislate, and tax the hell out of it.

If I get caught smoking a little weed, I am no longer allowed in to the USA. I have been a habitual user of tobacco, alcohol and marijuana and I no longer smoke anything for many many years now.

Booze should be illegal before pot. You don't hear of the problem of toking and driving, or somebody taking a toke and beating his wife. There are many more social problems associated with alcohol than pot.

However, it is still a drug and does impair the user. And for that reason it still needs to be illegal. But illegal like speeding, not illegal like murder.

Decriminalize, or make tobacco and alcohol illegal the same way.

True. Perhaps the OP should rephrase the question such as to relate:

"Should we legalize pot [to tax and gain funds for our struggling economy as to avoid a SHTF crisis]?"

And then follow that with "Would you grow and sell pot during hard times to make ends meet? Like bootlegging back when?"
