    Default Gold recovery DYI

Found this from "Instructables".....and found it interesting.
Maybe not too practical....unless you live in a 3 world country......

Thought the use of Borax instead of mercury...was interesting as well.

After I finished high school....left town.
Returned to find that a friend....kinda a pre computer nerd ....had started a business recovering silver from x-ray and other industrial processes....and making a good buck at it.
    Who would have though it.....?

We began selling our scrap electronics probably around 1980 or so. I have no idea what the company received for it but it must have been decently lucrative because we had warehouses and personnel dedicated to just junk electronics. Scrappers bid to pick up the stuff. There was a period of time around there that getting caught tossing electronics in the dumpster would put you in serious hot water.

I would guess that trying to recover the gold from your cellphone would not only be next to impossible but cost prohibitive. Now, if you had 100,000 of them that would be different. Economy of scale and all that.
