Incredible Footage of Incredible Survival

I caught this on the net... Fantastic footage. The photographer was extremely fortunate to capture this footage. Unusual to see three different types of wildlife attacking at the same time.... Lions, Crocodile and Water Buffalo.

An oldie but a true classic. I never get tired of seeing that footage.

I hadn't seen it before. Thanks. Kind of like watching a movie. Rival gangs meet - their numbers are small. One gang - call them the lions - attacks another - call them the buffalos. They pounce on the weakest and slowest of the buffalos. Ahhh, but they didn't realize that they had crossed into croc turff. (cue the dramatic music) The buffalos return in numbers to show the lions who is in control.......but nobody ventures into croc turf again. (fade to black)

You wonder, though, if the calf survived very long? Obviously none of the wounds killed swiftly, and I imagine they have very tough hides. So maybe the wounds were only superficial. Don't big cats go for the neck to suffocate the animal?

Reminds me of my fight for survival from my first wife and her lawyers. I did prevail, but took a beating.

I've seen this footage before and am still amazed by it.

I am surprised at the thoughtfullness of the buffalo returning in numbers to take on the lions. Who would have thought (except the buffalo) to do that.. it is so human like. Anybody speak buffalo? I would like to know what that announcement back at the herd was like.... "Hey guys, we got some lions over here that got one of our kids.... "

you know it was the mama buffalo telling the big brutes that they better turn their butts around to help out if they ever want to get any again...

I just saw a spot for a television show on Nat Geo Channel on May 12. It addresses the footage of the amateur safari from last year on youtube. It will also address the way lions hunt, along with crocs, and how buffalo survive.

Was that footage such a big deal that they needed to make the molehill bigger?

Hmm, Interesting after watching the video on that link.. I'll tune in if I can and am not working. Thanks for the link.

........and that picture on the link is better than what was in the film.... the wonders of the imagination and computer graphics these days...
