The one thing that the gun control politicians love more than banning guns is their power. A good many of them would have trouble finding work in the private sector.

Then there are the states where the politicians have nothing to worry about due to majority and do as they damn well please.
Watch the fireworks about to start in MA over new gun control legislation. As if this state needs to be any more restrictive.
They are trying everything. Over 60 Bills (only a very few of them pro-gun). Everything from requiring liability insurance for a crime committed with your gun if it is stolen, to wanting to require Medical Records waivers to allow police access before a permit is issued, to confiscation by regulation.
They did quite a dog and pony show at the last public hearing yesterday. Not a lot of pro-gun advocates got their chance to speak. Most of the day taken up with grandstanding politicians and top-down anti-gun rhetoric. There was very little media coverage of the previous 3 public hearings.

Where there is no fear of reprisal, they will take what they can to the max.
One could only wish that the people running for office in this state had to pass the same background check and requirements a citizen has to pass here, even now, for a gun license. Most, if not all, would be out on the street.

Here in CA we've been battling 22 new bills. 10 have been couched but 12 are on the governors desk waiting to be signed. One of them is just incredibly insane. It would give Oakland the power to pass laws that supersede state law. FYI Oakland has a history of not addressing criminals or crime but simply passing more and more restrictive laws on it's law abiding citizens. Also OPD are a bunch of over paid whiners who ignore crime going on right in front of their face.
