    Default Licking out the bowl.

I have had the pleasure of my young niece and nephew today. They are great kids, full of beans and bright as buttons, however their mum has non-existent cooking skills (this girl burns water!) so they get a crash course in cooking something when they visit. Today was chocolate cake. I had to laugh, there was a lot of tongue poking out in concentration and an almighty mess. After they had put the cake mixture in the oven, I gave them both a spoon and pointed to the bowl. The pair of them had no idea what I was on about, so I borrowed Ellies spoon, scooped some of the leftover mixture and offered it to her. Some time later after lots of elbowing, eye gouging and general underhand fighting I had two exhausted small people covered in cake mixture and one spotless mixing bowl. Half the cake had gone by the time mum came to pick them up, Jack tried to blame it on the dog, he almost got away with it too until mum realised I don't have one!
Gotta love kids. It's even better when you can hand them back at the end of the day. I'm ready for bed now.

I do find that playing on the floor with a 2-1/2 year old, is fun till I have to get back up again....

Nice job Winnie - I could almost see some of the "elbowing, eye gouging and general underhand fighting". Tell the truth now......who had more fun - you or them?

I think it was 50/50, Crash, I have a great fondness for them both. Their fighting skills rival that of any elite Forces Team. If I could bottle their enthusiasm and lust for life I'd be a rich woman.

My goodness - time does fly. As Winnie said, it seems like only yesterday that he was brought home.

Those kids were probably vibrating from the sugar and chocolate. I love sending them home like that. It's my way of getting even. I'm sure all three of you had a good time.

Sounds like great fun was had by all. One of my favorites is to feed them cheetos. Then send them home covered in the delightful orange colored coating, that is my idea of a real payback

The really sad part is I can remember licking the bowl when mom made frosting or cakes or brownies. Raw eggs and sugar were healthy back then.

You mean back when it was normal, in the summer, to fill the bed of a pick-up truck with kids and take them out for ice cream?

No. I was referring to when we'd go to town standing in the back seat of the car or playing army in the floor board.

And having the door open for the kids to run in, use the toilet, snag a biscuit and drink before going back out?

There's one good thing about being an adult. There's no one to tell you that eating half a bowl of unbaked brownie batter will ruin your supper.
Eggs shmeggs. Now they are saying the contamination is in the flour being used.
