    Default Mora Sheaths

I just got my frist Mora (Red handle carbon steel). I like the knife but I am not sure about the sheath. Does the knife stay in the sheath well does it hold up to use, and does anyone have any sugestions to improve it? Thanks for the help

They are not the sturdiest of sheaths (the belt loop IMO). Might be a good time to try your hand at making one.

I've thought about that, leather or kydex. I was also thanking about wraping it in cord.

Here's a Mora knife and sheath that I wrapped in micarta. The belt loop is still, IMO, the weak point.

You'd have a hard time losing that knife, Crash, unless it was in a bowl of Skittles.

I should add - I received a message from a very nice gentleman that explained while you can certainly use the Mora sheath as a belt sheath, it's design was more intended as a button sheath. I didn't know that, but it makes perfect sense. If used in that manner, the sheath should hold up just fine.

Thanks nice gentleman for teaching me something I did not know.

Here is the one I made for a member of the forum. It was a bit tricky to get the pattern correct because of the way I stitched it in the back. If you make the pattern too tight the sheath will get cut by the blade when you force blade while wet forming. That is something I learned on the first sheath. I made it as a dangle style because I think it would just move out of the way instead of hanging up on things. I haven't herd back I assume it works.

Like the looks of that one...Like the dangle concept, cool.
I guess I just tend to make something I can use...When all else fails.
It does occur to me that the manufactures of the world make things to be able to price it right, not necessarily to be useful.
