Hi everyone, I have been busy with life stuff and I generally don't have much to add to what others are posting to questions and such. Mostly just check the forum to see how folks are doing.
I have a survival related topic for us city dwellers in today's job market.
I was injured at work last Sunday and had to get my thumb stitched up, I was fired the next day. I have no write ups in my file so I was more than surprised by this to say the least. As I left the office my former boss say good luck in a less than nice tone. I told her I make my own luck, and left. The next day I went for an interview and landed a better job. More hours, pay, and respect. I also am going to be able to train and test to get my chef certification with my new job. I have put in more than 40 apps. in the previous two weeks and interviewed for an average of 4 jobs a week for the last two months.
My advice in this is to do the same thing any of us will in a survival situation. DO NOT QUIT. And keep a positive attitude. And remember no matter how bad your life feels during a low point, we all have had worse days in the past and survived them.
For the old hands here that is not a new concept, but I think it is worth mentioning.
-Sam
