Missing Boy Scouts Found

The six Boy Scouts and two Troop leaders that were stranded in a forest in Arkansas have been found. Smoke from a fire was spotted by helicopter.

No one had heard from the troop since Thursday. They were camping in the Albert Pike Recreational Area in the Ouachita Forest near Langley, Arkansas. The troop is still in the forest due to high water levels in the Missouri River.

The boys are members of Troop 162 from St. Edmunds Catholic Church in Lafayette. The troop was reported missing Sunday when they did not return home. The troop's van was found last night where it was parked. Family members traveled to Arkansas. Authorities scaled back search efforts after nightfall Monday. Arkansas state police and the national guard conducted the helicopter search this morning.

They're boyscouts. I'm not surprised. I would be surprised if in that time they hadn't erected comfortable shelters and gathered food and water while waiting for a chance to signal the search party... lol

I read an article a while back about some scouts at a camp in an area hit by a tornado. Well, they were out on the roads with axes and saws clearing stuff right away. They managed to clear a large area before the emergency crews even arrived on scene.

Thanks. I saw that on the news this morning and it's not time for evening news yet. I wasn't too worried about them, after all, they are boy scouts. But it's nice to hear they've been found.

Yep, that was the article. I still get Boys Life magazine at my place (its fun to read) and makes me proud to be an Eagle Scout for sure. I still amazes me that I have friends who have never hiked anywhere... lol
