These first are from when I dropped my beloved GF to work. Some of the storm damage from last Fall. Most of the trees have already been cleaned off, but there is still plenty laying around.

I haven't gone up this logger road earlier, so it was like a mini-adventure too. This is about a mile from where I live.

After maybe half an hour of walking on the road I turned in to the woods. Immediately found an old, possible, bear track and some moose droppings. Since I found no moose tracks I assume that the moose had been there months earlier.


Bear track, maybe... The picture is a bit bad, but the claw marks are there and the shape is from a right back paw.

I kept going, and saw a lake on my right side.

And then I found this spruce tree near the shore of the lake, maybe three meters from the shore.

I put my backpack next to it to give a size comparison. That's one big and old spruce in a managed forest!

I decided to "camp" under the spruce and started to build a fire. Under the tree, on the ground there was good amount of relatively dry branches. I used a firesteel and cotton balls to make the fire. And some birch bark I carry in my fire kit.

Why do I only get boxes with RED "X" inside and no photo......?

I didn't get no red "X". But, I read there was a lake in one of the photos and all I saw was snow. LOL

The place where I was is used to be a road back in 18th-century. It went around the lake. Not much left of it these days. I took a picture to both ways.
