So there I was, trudging through the knee high snow behind the residential units. Just doing my job and minding my own business. I was listening to my MP3 player and inspecting the back yards for dog poo. I hung my head over the 3' high fence to take a closer look and was startled by a dog. I thought I must have startled him as well because he was very agitated. So I gathered myself and continued on to the last unit of the 4 plex. Now these units sit right next to the woods and I have seen plenty of wildlife back there before, moose, bear even a fox or two. After inspecting the last unit I started heading around the unit. Have you ever had that feeling that someone or something is watching you. Well I had that feeling so I turned to take a gander into the woods. I expected to see a moose but instead I seen a black bear. He was sitting about 10 feet from me and was watching every move I made. Now the first thing I thought was oh $h!t, then I thought what should I do. Well I decided to back up slowly and get back to the road. It worked and he went on doing whatever it is he was doing before I disturbed him. Now my question is shouldn't he be hibernating? I know the past week or so has been somewhat warm but not that warm. It wasn't overly big either so I'm puzzled as to why he was even there. I sure didn't expect to see a bear this early in the year. Guess that will teach me to drop my guard.
