I went to the site but I don't understand the purpose of the pins or how they affect the operation of the trigger/hammer??

They really don't do any thing for most. They are tacticool.

Occasionally the hammer or trigger will bind on the pin and cause it to rotate in the frame and wallow out the holes to an egg shape. On precision AR rifles that will affect the trigger pull and cycling speed of the hammer, as well as ruining a good frame.

The locking style pin locks cut out the possibility of rotation in the frame and any damage that could occur.

As a side effect, they are also made oversized if needed so that if you already wallowed out a egg shaped hole in the frame you can ream it round and tighten up the whole outfit and possibly restore some of the trigger pull crispness.

I might consider them if I was using a poly frame, or if I screwed up while drilling a poly frame build.

But like Batch says, on most guns they are for the taticool affect.

Looking at the price I see that you can almost buy a new stripped lower for the price of those pins.

I wish I could see the pics. I guess those are just in the wind. I have broke down my AR twice. Those little springs are not my favorite. They fly. I lost one... twice. The guy at Ruger was really nice. He laughed and sent me a bag of them... for free.

I'm waiting on a AR pistol kit. I really hope I can redeem myself.
