A Thanks to Our Vets

Memorial Day is tomorrow and although the intent of the day is to remember the men and women that have died in military service I would like to say something to all of the veterans on the forum.

I'm not a veteran but I enjoy so much because of your service. I may never understand the depth of your sacrifice but I can and do appreciate the fact that you made it. It does not matter to me what your role in the service was, whether you saw combat or not. You still are a vital member of an important team. One that allows me to enjoy special freedoms so many others in the world don't have.

I'll remember our fallen heroes tomorrow but I'll also be thinking of you.

I get to talk to my favorite nephew tomorrow who is stationed at Ft. Knox right now. He's a Lt. in the Army and tank platoon leader.

Ditto on a "Thank you" to all vets here as well as elsewhere.

Heading down to D.C on Wednesday for my brother's retirement ceremony at the Pentagon on Thursday. Couldn't miss it. He made full bird. Have to thank him for Germany, Panama, Honduras, Somalia, Hurricane Andrew, Korea, and a whole bunch of other things and places he can't talk about. I'm gonna' thank the other men and women he works with, too.

Thanks all. Not meaning to speak for others, but all most vets that I know ever wanted was recognition for a job well done. God bless those that are serving in today's tough time.

Good job, Rick. Glad you thought to write this. I saw someone else already seconded it so I'll "third it."

I often regret having never joined the military as I feel I should've helped carry some weight. Thanks soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines.

i miss being around my brothers and sisters in uniform, proud that i served and proud to be american, god bless those who carry the torch that was passed to me that i have passed to them.

this day brings much happiness and sorrow as i think back on good times and sad times of friendships gained and friendships buried, to which i still carry the guilt for coming home unharmed. may the great ranger in the sky watch over you all....

Thanks Rick, and WE that was well put. I am glad that other folks don't know the things some of us see in the service of our country and fellow man. That is the point of serving, so that they do have to.
