Sam, I'm totally ignorant when it comes to fixing anything. What I do work on I work while thinking "oh crap I hope this doesn't get worse. I don't know what I'm doing." Makes me wonder why a grown man is worried about what his mommy and daddy think, rather than making decisions for himself.

But the US is failing the social experiment. The experiment where grown men live at home well into their late 20's, the experiment where a family without a father is promoted and hailed as successful when it is not, the experiment where we believe that the government is responsible for the success and failure of a man.

College today is just an extension of high school. The schools of today slam, slam, slam children from K to 6th grade, teaching to the next test. Yet, for some reason, we have an ever increasing decreasing grad. class and academic scores.

You don't need a college degree to be successful, you need heart.

Depending on what you're doing with your life, a degree may not be the way to go at all, especially what with all the student loans you'll have to pay off after. If your aim is to work and make money and buy things, a degree might come in handy. If you're more interested in actually living your life, learning all sorts of things that interest you, pursueing your passions...I don't know why you'd need to spend thousands of $$ at college for that?!

I am living my life, and I am learning all sorts of things that interest me, and pursuing my passions...all with a college degree.

Man. Don't understand the inadequate remark. There's nothing wrong with being 32, graduating technical college or working on cars for a living. My mechanic and I are close personal friends. If the van or the truck isn't parked in front of his shop on Monday morning he's calling to see if I'm sick.....

My hats off to you, Sam. You set a goal and you are working toward it. That's good stuff all the way around.

Look at it this way...You can be 32 with a degree and a decent paying job, or you can be 32 without a degree flipping burgers. I once heard someone say they were too old to go back to school...

"I'm to old to go back to school! I'll be 45 when I graduate!"

"Well, you can be 45 without a degree doing what you're doing now and struggling to go paycheck to paycheck, or you can be 45 with a degree, working in a field you like, and not struggling so much anymore".

I've looked back at your "drive-by postings." You've got a heap of issues, son. Maybe your mama didn't nurse you right. Maybe your daddy hit you over the head too hard with a 2x4. Maybe you've taken too many drugs. Maybe you just want to see how much of a rise you get out of people. I don't know what the cause is/was, but you are one screwed up individual. GET SOME PROFESSIONAL HELP!

If I had to guess, I'd say that you don't talk to people face to face the way you "speak" when you post on the forum, because if you did, someone would have already taught you some manners.

I grauduated high school, went to work the next day at a local fishing camp. Took EMT training at night and on the weekends, then upgraded to Paramedic while on the job.

As far as having a degree to get a better job, I know of many collage grad,s who are flipping bugers, planting trees, and other manual labor. A degree does not make the person.

People rarely ever appreciate that until they need a good plummer or if you want to look at it in the other direction, a good doctor.
