Hi all. Just joined today. I've always been connected with the outdoors. My 10-year-old sons, however, want to take it to a new level and get into learning outdoor survival skills. Looking forward to learning alongside them.

Welcome from Alaska. This forum is great for ideas and instruction about things to do with your sons.
Why do I live in Alaska? Because I can.

Awesome, I'm new here too. Welcome! Things like that become family tradition, you might even have great grandchildren doing the same thing you are doing one day! Kids seem to automatically be enthralled by the majesty of the great outdoors and less and less kids get to experience it first hand.

Viewing your profile I see that you are the mother of these young men.

Moms in the woods are not unusual here and 1TimeStar is or present 1st Lady of the Woods having 2 nearly grown up children of her own roaming the Alaskan wilderness.

I must say that getting out with your team will introduce not only them, but you also, to a new world of confidence and self sufficiency if you do not already have an outdoor background.

Plus, if you do your homework and purchase properly, you have found a recreational activity that is as cheap or expensive as you wish to make it and will last a lifetime. No age restrictions and almost no health requirements if you plan properly.

There is a lot going on in your area of the country and plenty of organized programs to incorporate into your plans.

Welcome to the forum from KY.
