I'm just curious if you have a "survival vehicle"?
What is it?
Why did you choose it?

kx - here's a thread on them http://www.wilderness-survival.net/f...ead.php?t=1053
Military 6X6 it has 10 wheels all chained up. burns gas or diesel or motor oil or mothballs and water. It has a 12" bed. Drop that baby in 10 wheels driving, and it will walk over top of most cars.
Hard to beat a Ski-Doo Super Wide-Track on land or snow or openwater if you really want to get out of dodge. She'll do about 100 miles on a 10 gallon tank of fuel. you can haul about 800 pounds behind it, depends on snow pack.
I have been looking at a Honda Helix with a trailer. 70mpg. 2 wheels for getting in the out of the way places.
I have a friend that has a Schwin with trailer. He can cover 5 miles on hour(on the roads) with all his gear. I know for a fact; he took it on a test run and did 100 miles of back desert, cross country to a camp ground he met his better half at. He says it is the only way, to get gone, without the worry of gas prices.
Gas, for me, would be the issue! I would want to have a way to move without the expence of gas or the need of it.

For ideas you could always look at what tends to win the Paris-Dakar as they have to go through some rough terrain and need the storage space for the trip. I think Unimogs are quite popular. Kamaz trucks have won about seven times i think, and they are Russian built so must be fairly hardy to say the least.

All this exotic stuff! Mine is a remote control and an oversized Lazy Boy recliner.
If I have to leave I have the van and the truck. Otherwise, I'm stayin' right here.

It is interesting to read these posts. I guess a survival vehicle has a different meaning for everyone. I was watching the movie "Deep Impact" last night, and when everyone was fleeing the city, the roads were completely clogged. The main character avoided this by riding a dual-sport dirt bike. My thought is if gas ever became scarce/rare, we might need to ration every ounce, but I would still need to get from my home/fortress, to the woods to hunt. This would mean riding something EXTREMELY good on gas. My emergency/survival (on/off road) vehicles are a KLX-400SR dual-sport(50mpg), or 2 Zuma scooters (70mpg). I'd still like to get an old long track 2-up snowmobile for winter emergencies.

I'd like to have a vehicle better suited to off-road travel. Right now, I drive an Accord and the wife has a Civic. Neither one does well off road. However, the Accord is a 1996, and I paid cash for it in 2002. The Civic is 2003 and we have one more payment until it's free and clear. After that, we're going to take that payment and put it into a saving account until I can afford to pay cash for a newer car. I'd much rather earn interest than pay it.
Ideally, a newer vehicle would be something I could take off-road, but not necessarily a Bug Out Vehicle. If it ever came to it, I'd head to my wife's parents' house in middle Georgia. Lot's of land and horses, and firearms.

Hey, kx250kev, take the Zuma scooter. It's slower and easier to pick you off as you drive by. I hate those fast things. I have to lead you then if you slow down, I miss, such a hassle.

I have a 4X4 truck, Honda Rincon but they need gas. My backup plan is a 4ft WV credit card and a 5 gal can. $20 to fill the Rincon and I need a co-signer to fill the truck, any takers?
Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he's too old
to fight... he'll just kill you.
I'd be using exactly the same credit card Coot, don't know that WV issued it to me, but it works every time.![]()
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"
I have a few different survival tools for travel- some of them eat grass, some of them I feed deer. Either way they can travel at a decent clip into the mountains around me. As far as fleeing cities....I've already done that.
When I think of survival vehicles and gas wars- I think of Mad Max and that crazy guy in the gyrocopter. Max knew what was up- tight black leather pants make the ultimate survival fashion statement

Found a pic for that ...... nope - not gonna post it. I might save it, but I'm not posting it.
Clearly the Ferrari Enzo....
Probably a jeep. Cause I can't afford anything that's actually any good.
