That is not selfish, it is what you need for you and yours. I have friends that whine if you don't see them every week. I like them and all but sometimes I feel like they are six years old about it. Every one should have a life of their own by the time you leave the house. Just my .02 on this.
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

My earlier comments were in jest. I am the type that would take charge if need be. But if someone else was a better leader I would help them. As an NCO in the military that is your job. Support those placed in leadership over you and take charge in their absents.
1. If it's in your kit and you don't know how to use it....It's useless.
2. If you can't reach your kit when you need it....Its useless.

Getting back to the personality types, remember that your "natural" personality can change, sometimes drasitcally, under stress. And I think a survival situation would cause serious stress. Teams that work together often (military being one kind of team), they learn each others strengths and weaknesses, and how they will tend to react under stress. Imagine a survival situation at 14000 feet? Altitude may affect your decision making and even alter your personality.

I agree, Aurelius, and with time and difficulty. The longer the duration of stress or prolonged the difficulty the more people may shift their personality. When individuals begin to lose hope they either give up or tend to become "me" oriented. Good thought!

I like the balanced view here. The willingness to help and the understanding that not everyone can be helped. Encouragement for the ones that are willing to except it and forceful rejection for those who arrive to do harm. All joking aside for just a moment...I have a similar belief system. Be prepared, be vigilant, if I am able...help those who need and will accept it, protect those in my charge to the utmost of my ability. I guess the biggest difference here besides gender is the weapon of choice. I prefer a firearm to a knife. Although she could have been speaking figuratively instead of literally? I always have been to literal. Guess I just don't want to end up being the one who brings a knife to the gunfight.Just cause Rambo can do it doesn't mean I can!

You're right, it is much better to have a bow and some arrows in a gun fight than just a knife. I'm surprised they didn't have him firing his bow from the hip. Was that the only weapon he actually aimed with in the movie? Can't remember cause I haven't seen it in a while.![]()

Well, you know, a broadhead that is shot into a barrel of petrol based chemical in a munitions dump can apparently level like 3 sq. klicks, so it doesn't matter how many guns they have. And, ya know, every army but ours is dumb enough to store the fuel point right next to the ammo dump.
Then you can simply cover yourself in mud and no one can see you till you open your eyes.
As for aiming, I think he kinda vaguely pointed a claymore in the general direction of some guys at some point.

See, I knew he had to be a good role model. He can improvise and be creative (mud and mysteriously exploding barrels) while still being able to follow directions.....(claymore: "This side towards enemy")
