is a cabin really still camping?

for over 5 yrs now i,ve been buying a new walmart tent to stick out in the grove for me and the boss(aka) wife
so i was thinking while out in the tent this eveing about building a little cabin 12x20 insulated a wood stove and what not.
but would that still be camping or is it just a matter of mind? heck i haveall the material on hand to do it so i says why not .
so any how what do you think?

No not really. I live in a cabin and while it is a pretty big one as far as cabins go (700 sq. ft.) it's still a cabin and more protected then camping, even in a big tent. I still think you should do it though. Sounds fun.

had a lot more energy. i think i,ll go price the tent first then see where i,m at.

It may or may not be camping, it is all a matter of viewpoint. But it would be great life experience.

If your cable goes out and electric is down....Is that camping?

Go for it.

"The Place" has covered all the bases from the shelter half tent,....... to log cabin,..... in many steps along the way over 25 years.....
I guess I have to say that with indoor plumbing, electric heat, a sat TV/Modem....No longer camping...LOL

I am with Madmax on this. Its all about your enjoyment.

We have people that come out to the woods with a camping trailer. And then you have people who go to a park and camp in a back pack tent with water and electricity. A fire ring, grill and a picnic table. Across from a bathroom with hot showers. Surrounded by other campers in their respective camp sites.

If it fits their idea of camping and they are enjoying themselves. Who am I to say they are doing it wrong or not really camping.

Camp, the verb, occurs no matter how well one does the task of development.

Trying to camp, without having a camp, is just sleeping in the woods!

anyhow i went with the tent after all it,s 10x20 high cieling. 3 entrances. it,s already set up
and to morrow i,ll finish the covering of it with tarps to keep the sun off it. the suns UV rays eat those
things right up. the stoves in as are the cots and chow buckets.i put in a wood walk way as well.
tomorrow i,ll be camping out.

I bought a "CABIN" in the woods, on a pond with an acre of land. I moved in, its home now. I told the better half we didn't need all our camping equipment any more because i'm always "camping"

well it,s 2,days now and taking a nap in the tent with no electrical fields i must say the rest was wonderful.
yesterday and today i made lunch and supper at the camp. tomorrow i,ll be back at it most of the day.
got some wood being deliverd so i,ll have to work on that.the cat comes in and sleeps on the deer rug.
