Obstruction of driver's view comes to mind. Police hand out tickets for that. A coyote skull is fairly large. Here's the wording for PA.

"(c) Other obstruction.--No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any object or material hung from the inside rearview mirror or otherwise hung, placed or attached in such a position as to materially obstruct, obscure or impair the driver's vision through the front windshield or any manner as to constitute a safety hazard."

Around my area we would get a warning, no tickets. Not sure of the law, just know the local LEO.

Sounds like a traffic officer would have a lot of discretion with that statute.

A guy I hunt with had a cat skull he found and a snake skeleton he found. He hung the cat skull from the mirror and put the snake skeleton in its mouth.

Largest thing I every had for decoration of my dash was my Plastic Jesus. With him on there, I don't care if it rains or freezes.

Stuff on my dash seems to get bounced off....so no I don't "Decorate"

Now just for fun...You put a coyote skull on your dash.......and get pulled over.......Then get upset?"
Some how drawing extra attention to your self.....legal or not....doesn't seem like a good idea.

Back when, we would check to be sure all lights were in working order....including license plate lights....so as to not give the PoPo a free reason to pull you over.

I don't put anything in my truck that someone else might think is cool enough to break my window to steal.
I once had a rattlesnake skull decorated with fur that hung from my mirror.
    Once was enough.

You do realize you drive your ornamented truck over roads built by the corporate state, across bridges built by the corporate state, and plowed and deiced by the corporate state. Part of the "scam" money goes toward emergency medical services, which you might use if that dog skull obstructs your view of the dump truck.

I have a large Friend base that are LEO, Trust me when I say if they want to pull you over they will, the list of reasons they use is beyond belief. some examples .... your windows were fogged up ( no joke ) you stopped to far away from the stop sign, you stopped to close to the stop sign, opps It looked like your reg/inspection sticker was expired... The list goes on and on, So why worry about whats on your dash, they really don't need a legit reason!!!

Last time I was pulled over was 15 years ago in a radar speed trap. I probably should not have been doing 45 in a 35.

Before that it had been 27 years since I had been pulled over.

They seem to not pay me much attention.

I suppose I am just not ugly enough to be picked on by TPTB.

Cool Well, since you brought it up....

First, As a trained professional driver we are taught to NEVER have ornaments of any kind on the dash. Radar detectors and GPS seem to be okay, but we don't use them on the buses.(GPS units are already on the busses, just not on the dash.)

Second, as a Survivor kind of guy, I like to blend in with the crowd, sorta like "society type camo if you will. So no skull with light up eyes for me. However, you might want to stick that thing on the back shelf, just glue it down good with Marine Epoxy or the like. If a cop pulls you over and asks "what's that?" Just say: "The last POS cop that pulled me over, why?" Be sure and send us the address of the jail you will be in and we'll send you cigarettes and the like....
