computer interface for chrono

I am about to buy one of these:

The information says it has an audio jack for interface to a smart-phone or I-phone and a free app for reading and storing info.

My computer and smart-phone/I-phone illiterate question is;

Can I plug this into my laptop and get the same results.

Anyone know???

if it has an app for android then you would have to have an emulator for a PC if its an Iphone app there is no PC emulator that I know of so maybe uploading to a cloud server then to your PC

I'm with him. It sure doesn't look like it. Here's the user manual. It looks like all the connectors are 3.5mm or similar.

It would require an appropriate driver or application interface. I take it the manufacturer doesn't publish one? The protocol if not published could certainly be reversed and client software written to do it but it might be a lot of work.

Possibly easier would be seeing if the readings are exposed on a serial bus inside the chrono. Those could be read by a microcontroller and interfaced with whatever you like. This would still require some specialized skill.

The more I think about it, I think the best approach if nothing is published would be to reverse the protocol from the android APK. I'll see if I can't download it and look into it.
