H&R/NEF Barrel Accessory Program

Stopped by their web site this morning....to see if there was any office word on the shut down of the program.

So far I haven't seen any notice....but many calibers are disappearing off the list since November.
.22 Hornet
.357
.44 Mag
30-30 to name a few.
Also seems the .45/70 Buffalo Special isn't listed any longer either (longer barrel)....although the 22" barrel still is.

Kinda like waiting for the last shoe to drop....

I have noticed that there is no longer any discussion on H&R barrels performance or hunting wise.

Every H&R spot on the internet has turned into a huge "swap meet".

It is nice to watch the prices go through the roof though.

It's one thing to drive discussion of the merits of something you can have cheaply when you like into the ground. It's pointless when the market knows it wants it and they can't or might not be had so easily.

If I time this bubble right I might just be able to pay my grandson's first year in college by selling a breakdown single shot shotgun and its two rifle barrels!

Not much shame in that. I didn't buy in when I could have (and wanted to) and that's my loss. Maybe when the bubble breaks, I guess.

Never fear, the rumor is that the parent company, Remington/Marlin, is canceling the present program to begin a new product that does not require sending the barrels back to the factory for fitting.

The Rossi lineup already has that capability in everything but the 410/22 matched pair.

Over the years H&R really got carried away with some of their offerings and passed the status of "utility gun" when they did. That along with numerous frames they were servicing and certain calibers only offered on certain frames made on certain dates made their system a confusing mess.

Hunter, I looked into the same thing yesterday. Noticed no official announcement on the webpage. Wondering when that's going to come...

KYRat, I'm hoping both that that rumor is true, and that the price points remain at least somewhat close to what they are now. Would possibly sway people from the Rossi and T/C side if Remington/Marlin can keep the prices down but still offer a solid product as well as numerous caliber offerings. Maybe not as "interesting" as .35 Whelan, but more common calibers like .270 Win, .308 Win, .444 Marlin, etc. I would kill to see one in .50 BMG, but I know that wouldn't happen. Would be a nice show off caliber though...
