Trip to Louisiana

FYI,...... On our trip to the southland, NW Louisiana for a few weeks.........
Had a good trip down....found the I 49 is now completed from east of Texarkana, AK, all the way to Shreveport, La., making the last 100 miles much more pleasant.

Visiting DD, SIL, and GS....for the holidays.
Modem seems to work, so will still be checking in.....

45 degrees here, .....35 back home.....so no shorts yet.

Hoping to get some deer hunting in yet........

GS is now 5 .....and quite the little man.....and doesn't forget anything....
Gas $2.19, Diesel $3.29......Should have drove the gas motor truck....LOL

Yesterday was kinda exciting......
Started by me letting Bella out for a potty stop....I tie her out.

Snowball, DD Great Pyrenees pup was locked on the porch, in heat.....and the old labs (14 years old) wanted out as well.....

Hooked up Bella, and opened the gate, all 4 dogs blasted by me and got loose.

Local stray male has been hanging around, trying to get at Snowball and all of them took off.......

Major OH SHIP.......and many cuss words.....
Bella was caught, on old lab just wondered back, but Snowball, her suitor, and Buddy (old lab)....gone.

All of us started looking , SIL, DW and I.....from 10 A.M....till about 1 P.M. Snowball and her boy friend came back....No Buddy.
Kept looking......and about 3 P.M. a car pulled in the drive way....window were tinted, but I could see Buddy's collar in the drivers hand.

My first thought was he was hit by a car or was dead........Major, OH SHIP again....he was in the back seat , Thank God!!!!!

Turned out that a couple of ladies were driving down I 49 and saw him running along the road, stopped and picked him up......SIL's name was on the collar, but phone number was old...couldn't thru...so Goggled his name got an address...and stopped over.

They wanted to know how he had run about 5-6 miles down the road....and di we just let him run...
Not the case ....and about that tome DD shows up in the truck...had been looking for him....and DW comes walking out of the wood...looking also.

Buddy is now home....
and the stray is still hanging around getting closer to getting shot....so the ladies (I guess the rescue a lot of dogs) asked if they could take him..... to a shelter......Not SIL/DD dog, so the stray went for a ride......better for every one.

Snowball has to go to the vet to see if she's PG....about 10 months old only....

BTW a lot of dogs dumped on the highway around here.......sadly mostly not ending well.

All are snoozing right here...best Christmas present for me.........
Sometimes that stars align ....God watches over little kids and dogs.......

Nothing worse than a Dog taking itself for a walk without permission, puts your heart in your mouth. Glad there was a happy outcome.

Buddy, the old lab and his brother Mr. "T".....isn't chipped.....Bella is.

We worried about Buddy, as being 14 and just getting to be skin and bones....we didn't think he could run as far as he did......
We figured he would run out of gas and lay down some where......

As it turned out those ladies picked him up, he was riding and eating treats....with the look on his face....."Hey guys look who I found......"

Buddy and Mr T are from Monty, my favorite hunting dog....which we bought two females, Sadie and Hanna.......Hanna ws the better hunter....so we bread her with Monty to keep the line going...
Long story but, as I had too many dogs....Buddy (my pick of the litter) went to Louisiana with the kids so I was out of a dog.....
He still knows he's "my dog"....LOL.

They have been around so long every time we leave here, I think that it will be the last time I see him and Mr. "T".....
