Odd stuff you carry in your bag.

We all talk about what we bring in our BOB, GHB, GOOD, Go-bag (we use go-bags a lot)...always ends up with all sorts of cool lists, dual use items, for various priorities.

Have gotten many good ideas reading all the lists of the years.......Thanks.

Items I have started hauling around besides the normal survival gear, is the med ID, and thumb drive with records and copied of Credit cards and such.

Now everyone know the original BOB was Mom's purse.....with everything for tissues, to aspirins to snacks to .357's to sleeping bags.

Saw a new one today.....DW was cleaning and sorting out her laptop bag...
We do travel....at least to a few different locations...and stay awhile.

Now a new item, and I have to say there is a different logic employed here......
A selection of birthday, sympathy, and various other greeting cards....and stamps.

So my question (dumas) was "What are the card for?"
Answer, "So if I need one when we are traveling, I have one.....Duh".

So think hard...what odd item do y'all carry....and why?

I guess the oddest item I have on my pack is a small thermometer. Most folks don't carry one. I also have a couple of older French backpacking candle lanterns.

I always carry about a dozen "box nails" that are about an inch or so long and about a half dozen small "S" hooks.

Those are good ideas...like the candle lanterns....do look antique-y....very cool.
Used to carry a thermometer zipper pull.....got so I didn't want to know how cold it was....LOL
Nails ..excellent........carry few, bigger 4" myself.......
Fencing pliers sound like you found a need at some point....but do several different jobs......

Well I don't know if it's weird, but my friends think I'm weird for always having a hefty bag and some TP in my day pack around the city. I use the bag to carry things or for a poncho. I've been to a few punk rockers homes where it's not likely you're gonna find moss, leaves, or TP and the only alternative is whatever you can find in a dirty bathroom with no lights.

But the weirdest thing that I carry around would have to be heat shrink tubing because glasses break.

Now that is funny....Duck tape for TP.....Bhohahaha...good one.

Most jackets have a small package of tissues....have used these for TP....as well as shredded up, rubbed down with Carmex lip balm...as fire starter.

Went deer hunting with a friend and his kid........we were gonna meet for lunch at a certain spot....
Saw the kid dancing around as I was walking up......?
What the heck was he doing.....he was playing/kicking around a hacky sack....WTF?......so I ask him why....said he was cold.

That was weird, then I thought, well deer are curious creatures, and would come form mile around to see that........well then, maybe not

In the bag I take for day trips and such, I occasionally take a chisel and light mallet. They remove the need for prying with a good knife when you want to pull something like fatwood out or off of something else. Is that weird enough? If not, I took a bag of Christmas cookies with me when I went out today. I don't know if that's weird or not, but it was delicious...

That sounds like the voice of experience. The up side is they clean easy and can be reused AND that would make it multi purpose. You gotta make lemonade....not with the used tarp though.

Can't confirm or deny.......just saying.....and tarps may have fiber glass?......don't know.
