I just posted that on FB Hunter. We say "Happy" then the name of the holiday, but we really need to come up with a different way to recognize. I think so too. Thank you my fellow Vets.

Happy Veterans Day is appropriate as it is paying tribute to those that have served. Happy Memorial Day is not as it is honoring those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to the country.Originally Posted by hunter63

This is a simple, musical replay (from a few years ago), just to put a peaceful cap on the end of this Veterans' Day, 2014 ... for my favorite vet ...
I just ran across a very interesting black and white film clip made in 1938. It shows Union and Confederate soldiers, still alive, greeting one anther across a stone wall at Gettysburg - 75 years after they fought. Very impressive and very moving. These old soldiers, none of whom can be alive today, were another Greatest Generation who were able to put aside their differences and make a peace.
Search for videos about FDR meeting Civil War veterans in 1938.
