Every time an older person dies, its like burning a full set of encyclopedias that will never be published again. So, if you ever want to learn more of anything, just find a old tradesman and hang out with him and then when he passes on, not the full set will burn, you'll have parts of it to pass on to others.
I can see applications for this, and welcome ones.
As I get older I do wonder how long I will be able to drive and retain my independence. This development extends that speculation into the half blind and completely uncoordinated era.
As long as I have the coordinates for home, church, the grocery and Golden Corral in the GPS I can just lock the car door, kick back and take a nap and program the alarm to tell me I have arrived.
I can also see busy soccer moms telling the car to go pick up the kids while she heads for another appointment.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
Now that is Freaky.....and I can see a major EMP event, turning all the "auto-cars"...(get it? auto cars?) into "auto car Zombies"

True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.
